Éric Charpentier
Chief Executive Officer of CIC, Banque Fédérative du Crédit Mutuel
and Crédit Mutuel Nord Europe,
Éric Charpentier is a graduate of the École Normale Supérieure (ENS), one of the grandes écoles in France, with a specialist qualification in mathematics. He holds a DEA (5-year post-graduate degree) from Paris Dauphine University and a Master’s Degree in financial techniques from ESSEC Business School.
Éric Charpentier began his career as advisor to the Chairman of FINANSDER, the central financing body for regional development companies, where he rose to the position of CEO. He was subsequently appointed General Director of ANSDER, the national association of regional development companies.
In 1998, Éric Charpentier moved to Crédit Mutuel Nord Europe (CMNE) as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of the finance and corporate division. Through his expertise and leadership he advanced to Chief Operating Officer in 2004 and then Chief Executive Officer in 2006, a position he still holds today. Meanwhile, he has chaired the Board of Directors of Beobank in Belgium since 2015 and the Boards of both Banque de Tunisie and Sciences Po Lille since 2019.
In 2021, he was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Industriel et Commercial (CIC) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Crédit Mutuel Investment Managers, in addition to his responsibilities at CMNE. He subsequently also joined the Group Executive Management Committee of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale.
In January 2024, he was named Chief Executive Officer of Banque Fédérative du Crédit Mutuel and CIC, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to the Crédit Mutuel group.
